Palmarosa essential oil is an all-around great oil - it is versatile and effective in therapeutic blends, and it is moderately priced. With its wonderful aroma, Palmarosa is an effective antiviral oil, yet is non-toxic and generally regarded as safe.

Palmarosa is great for skin formulas because it is said to help the skin retain its water balance, regulate its secretion of sebum, and has a reputation for eliminating wrinkles. It also adds a tenacious rose-like scent to perfume blends.

Our organic Palmarosa has a smooth, fresh, sweet-grassy, mild rosy-geraniol aroma, with delicate citrus zest top notes. Cymbopogon martinii comes from the same botanical family as Lemongrass and Citronella and is native to India and Pakistan; it now grows in Africa, Indonesia, Brazil, and the Comoro Islands.

This is the grass that aspires to be a Rose - and at a fraction of the cost! With its rich distribution of Rose alcohols, Rose esters, and Rose aldehydes, Palmarosa is truly underappreciated for both its complex aroma and the generally beneficial properties inherent in this arrangement of molecules. It is useful in skincare, particularly for dry or imbalanced skin, and for this reason, is exceptionally beautiful in facial serums and soaps.

Safety Considerations: Skin sensitization (low risk), drug interaction (those metabolized by CYP2B6); a maximum dermal use level of 6.5% is recommended, otherwise has GRAS status (Generally Recognized as Safe). Dilute before using. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.
