Oat Tops, scientifically known as Avena sativa, offer a gentle and mildly sweet flavor profile. When harvested at the milky stage, the tops or seeds are revered for their nervine properties. They provide a calming influence without being overly sedative and offer a slight fortifying effect, promoting balance in the nervous system. They can be generously used in infusions and are also commonly prepared as a tincture. Oat Tops are among the selection of child-friendly herbs in our inventory. It's important to note that while our oat tops and oatstraw are processed separately from wheat, they are not certified gluten-free, making them unsuitable for individuals with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.
