Our Jasmine Sambac Absolute – 10% is an extremely beautiful oil for Jasmine lovers. It is blended with Fractionated Coconut Oil to create a long-lasting (and affordable!) diluted Jasmine that is easily incorporated into your fixed oil-based blends. It may also be used as is for a natural perfume. Jasmine Sambac is somewhat green and fruity initial aroma is followed by the characteristic floral/honey/tea notes that become sweeter in the drydown. Our Jasmine Sambac has a powerful reputation as an aphrodisiac and is great in natural perfumery for a greener, lighter and fresher Jasmine aroma.
Jasmine has been among the principal ingredients of more than 80% of all quality perfumes and a third of all men’s fragrances, perhaps because its most important application is its effect on the subtle level – according to Patricia Davis, Jasmine brings together the fiery dynamism associated with the masculine aspect (yang) and the soft earthiness of the feminine (yin). In magical spiritual traditions, Jasmine is used as a devotional anointing oil and is worn for blessings, protection and good luck. In Marcel Lavabre's words, “Jasmine releases inhibition, liberates imagination and develops exhilarating playfulness”, adding, “…it has the power to transcend physical love.”
One look at the chemistry of this seductive aroma explains a lot about its sex appeal. Amid a bouquet of complex flowery esters, including methyl anthranilate (a rare nitrogen compound associated with intense calm) is the queen of floral aromas, indole, but only if smelled in low concentrations; it occurs naturally in human feces and, at full strength, has an intense fecal odor. At very low concentrations, however, it is intensely floral and appears in some of the sweetest blossoms – for example Narcissus, Jonquil, Honeysuckle, Champaca and Neroli – and is highly regarded in natural perfumery. Interestingly, the amino acid known as tryptophan is an indole derivative and the precursor of the neurotransmitter serotonin.
Jasmine brings lightness and a happy disposition to those who wear it, perhaps because as a known aphrodisiac it has a secret way of exciting sensuality – it helps to dispel fear, coldness, psychological tension, guilt, and emotional blocks, setting the stage for experiencing relaxed physical awareness, mutual trust, and total abandon. If one could embody the life force from a plant, this would be the one! It is a rapturous oil for those who want to spiritualize the intimate aspect of their relationships. “With Jasmine, we are helped to understand that there is no division between physical and divine love.”

Blending Suggestions: This product can be safely applied as a natural perfume as is. It is already diluted for easy use and contains 10% Jasmine Sambac Absolute in 90% organic Fractionated Coconut Oil. Although absolutes are not recommended for therapeutic use, they may be safely incorporated in extremely low percentages (less than 1%) for aromatic effects, specifically if incorporating into an all-over body oil or massage oil.
Safety Considerations: Not to be used during pregnancy; can induce contractions. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin. There is a theoretical risk of interaction with drugs metabolized by CYP2D6; low risk of skin sensitization, therefore a maximum dermal use level of 4.0% (of undiluted Jasmine Sambac) is recommended, otherwise has GRAS status (Generally Recognized as Safe). Dilute product further per Blending Suggestions above if using in a leave-on product to be applied over large portions of the body. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.
